“>MODERNIZATION OF FUSCHL AM SEE LAKESIDE RESORT
Lake Fuschl is considered one of Austria’s most beautiful lakes – crystal clear, nestled in the mountains, a place of longing for bathers and hikers. Here, the existing Fuschlsee Lakeside Resort is to be given a new look. A competition was announced in May 2025 – and we decided at short notice to participate. Within a few weeks, we pooled all our resources, developed ideas, visualized them, and brought our design to life in a presentation video. With this unusual yet very clear approach, we were able to convince the jury – today, we are in the midst of the planning phase.
The Challenge
The task was ambitious: panoramic sauna with lake view, new restaurant, kiosk with rooftop terrace, children’s area, spacious entrance, heat protection for glass surfaces – all these functions were to be integrated into an existing building and simultaneously expanded. For us, this meant transforming complexity into clarity: consistently separating the bathing and sauna areas, reorganizing visitor flows, and harmoniously merging existing structures and new constructions.
Our Design
We have rethought the Lakeside Resort – not as a patchwork, but as a unified whole:
A sauna area that is elevated to a new level in terms of size and quality – with panoramic views, warm water pools, and relaxation zones.
A clear separation of the restaurant facilities for bathing and sauna guests – with its own sauna restaurant and kiosk, including a spacious rooftop terrace for hikers and bathers.
A natural shading system: projecting wooden slats with greenery, which protect the glass surfaces, envelop the building in a new facade, and simultaneously ensure a uniform appearance.
A new children’s area with a play cove, paddling pool, and shaded areas directly by the lake – safe, adventurous, and close to nature.
A distinctive entrance area that finally makes the Lakeside Resort visible: a spacious forecourt, clear wayfinding, and a portal that makes the name shine from afar.
A Project with Impact
Our goal was not just to create spaces, but experiences: well-being in the sauna, joy of life in the children’s area, ease in bathing operations, and identity through architecture. The large lettering “SEEBAD”, “FUSCHL AM SEE”, and “SAUNA” are more than just words – they support the canopy, shape the image, and give the place a distinctive character.
The Way Forward
The preliminary and final designs are complete; we are currently in the submission phase. The new lido is to be built in 2026.
