Bicycle Pedestrian Bridge with Recreational Character

A New Highlight for the City of Salzburg

In the heart of Salzburg, between Lastenstraße and the western part of the main train station, a new landmark is being planned – a bicycle and pedestrian bridge that is intended to be not only functional but also a symbol of sustainability and urban well-being.

This project, which we developed on behalf of the engineering office Wölfle, aims to make the city of Salzburg a bit greener and offer residents and visitors a new, inspiring space to linger. The bridge will invite you to take a break from the stress of everyday life and the hustle and bustle of the city. Whether on the comfortable seating or under the shade-providing trees, which are idyllically placed on the green island in the middle of the bridge. Fascinating views open up, enriching the experience in a special way. You can watch the trains coming in and out of Salzburg Central Station, let your gaze wander over the old town and marvel at the majestic Hohensalzburg Fortress in the distance.

The approaches to the bridge will lead through a green ribbon of trees, creating a refreshing and calming atmosphere. As a kind of treetop walk or urban forest with native trees, the bridge will be appreciated not only as a traffic route but also as a piece of nature in the middle of the city. The bridge will also prove to be an important artery for pedestrians and cyclists, connecting the two parts of the city separated by rail traffic.

Our services within the scope of this project include the design of the bridge, the assessment of technical feasibility, as well as the 3D visualization required for various administrative procedures to realistically represent the project.

With this project, we hope to make a positive contribution to Salzburg’s urban development and that our creative design can one day be used and admired in reality.
